Handicapping A Baseball Game Is A Waste Of Time

Handicapping A Baseball Game Is A Waste Of Time
Of the millions of people who bet on baseball every year, the vast majority will lose money. Most of those will look at stats or try some other method of handicapping the games they bet. I think handicapping a single baseball game is a waste of time.
The most common thing, of course, is who is pitching in the game. The books take all of that into account as well and it is already figured into the odds. The books have already done the handicapping for themselves. Why do I need to bother looking at it?
Since it is possible in baseball to pick 60% single game winners and still lose your butt, it is crazy to try to win money by picking single game winners. Baseball is the only game where it is possible to pick a lot more winners than losers and still watch your bankroll disappear.
The best teams in baseball win less than 60% of their games while the worst teams win 40% or more. Of course, there are a few teams that do a little bettor or worse than those percentages every year. If you flipped a coin 163 times any one of those results could occur.
There is so much parity among the teams every season that the worst team can beat the best team any time and nobody cares. Why should you put money into a situation like that? It is one game and anything can happen.
There is no reason to spend a lot of time looking at the specifics of any one game. Baseball was conveniently scheduled and formatted so that each team plays the same team three times in a row in the same stadium most of the time.
It is far better to find a series with good odds and bet the underdog team to win one out of the three. Statistically, the only number I have ever seen posted for sweeps is that they happen 17% of the time.
By betting on every series you have a built in win rate of 83% on a series. If you only bet on certain series, you can increase that substantially while using the money line to ensure a profit from any series win.
It is quite possible to achieve a 90% win rate when betting on a series of games. The trick is in doing it profitably. And without the risk of some bet doubling scheme.
It can be done with smart progressive betting strategies and the right money line odds. That's why handicapping a single baseball game is a waste of time.
